There are several notable National Trust properties in this area: Lytes Cary, Montecute House and Stourhead to name but a few. Longleat is also nearby.
The village has a marvelous pub, the Jolliffe Arms, which serves vast portions of delicious pub food. Nearby in Frome there's a newly opened bar and restaurant called Archangel, with fabulous food and atmosphere. The bell inn in Buckland Dinham and the Talbot Inn in Mells also provide good beer and meals.
The private members hotel, Babington House, is two miles away and within walking distance from the Old Vicarage through the Babington woods.
